Dads V Lads 2010

Result 5-5

Lads win on penalties 8-5

22 May 2010
Borras Park Albion V Marchwiel
Result: 1-2 Win to Marchwiel

Scorers:
Dylan

Congratulations to Marchwiel, worthy champions!
Many thanks for the bottle of shampers , that went down well with the players and coaches.

With the league already decided today's game saw the top of the table battle it out for pride!
The game was full of excitement and the result hinged on "the rub of the green". Marchwiel's opener came via the penalty spot after a ball bounced up off the ground into the lower arm of an Albion defender. Their second came when a high foot won the ball which was then cleanly taken. 0-2 Marchwiel. Borras were working hard and were rewarded when Kyran  put Dylan  through on goal who finished calmly. Marchwiel could have got a third but a tremendous "punched" save from Kieran Staffer kept Albion in the game. Borras then could have drawn the match in the dying moments but a nudge in the back prevented the certain goal.  Today's game was end to end with both teams having too many opportunities to mention.

Man of the Match goes to Kyran  who was outstanding at left back.

24 April 2010
Llay V Borras Park Albion
Result: 1-3 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Tom
Aiden
Connor "A"

It took 3 very good goals today to beat a well organised and capable Llay side. The first half was very scrappy by Albion's standards and it took until nearly half time for the break through. Kyran  threw a long ball into the box that was miss-headed by the Llay defence. Tom  miscued his first shot, but had time to reshape and although Llay's excellent keeper got his hand to the ball he just couldn't keep it out. 0-1 BPA
The second half started and Llay pressed and got the award they deserved. Their magnificent No 19 hit a 30 yarder that Albion keeper failed to hold and Llay's striker was quick to react and finished nicely. 1-1. Borras finally started to knock the ball around and got their second when Aiden got a one on one with the keeper and chipped the ball calmly into the net. 1-2 BPA. The third came when Kyran  was brought down just outside the box. Connor "A" stepped up and hit a thunderbolt of a freekick that no keeper in any league would have stopped. Man of the Match goes to Callum who was excellent in his midfield role.

03 April 2010
Joe Jones Under 14s' Memorial Cup
Borras Park Albion U13s V Bala U14s
Result: 0-3 Win to Bala

Albion started very well and a combination of good saves and near misses prevented Dylan, Kyran, Aiden and Ben from taking the lead. I think it is fair to say that BPA were the stronger team in this half. Bala started to gain the upper hand about halfway through the second half as the age difference started to show. With fifteen minutes to go Bala capitalized on mistakes made by tired legs and got 3 goals in quick succession to finish the tie. Man of the Match was shared today by two players who showed tremendous fitness levels and determination throughout the game - Kyran & Toby.

------------------------------------------------------------------

13 March 2010
Joe Jones Under 14s' Memorial Cup
Borras Park Albion V Maelor Youth
Result: 3-1 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Aiden  x1
Dylan  x2

Maelor started the stronger and were first to every ball. The pressure told and Maelor scored a wonderful strike to take a 0-1 lead at about the 20 minute point. This goal seemed to wake Borras who finally started to compete. A neat pass from Toby put Dylan  through who instinctively shot and found the bottom left hand corner. 1-1. On form Aiden got the Albion's second on the stroke of half time with a wonderfully directed free kick. 2-1 BPA.
The second half saw Borras apply plenty of pressure and the third came once again via the Toby/Dylan combination. Toby put Dylan through who this time lobbed the keeper to score a spectacular goal and put the Albion coaches at ease. 3-1 BPA. Connor "P" played well at the back today covering the speedy Maelor No9 and Connor "C" made an impact from the bench. Toby narrowly missed out on Man of the Match today and was tremendous in midfield but today's Man of the Match goes to Dylan for two fine goals and a excellent work ethic up front.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

06 March 2010
Borras Park Albion V Coedpoeth
Result: 4-1 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Aiden x2
Toby x1
Dylan x1

Tremendous performance today by both teams. Borras played their best passing game to date and against a weaker team they could have got a cricket score. Some good passing led to Toby making a break into the left side of the box and his pass/shot across the keeper found it's way into the net albeit via a Coedpoeth leg. Coedpoeth then got an equalizer after being gifted the ball via a simple error. 1-1.
The half time team talk was simple, keep playing the same passing game and the results will follow. A pass from James to Aiden got Albion's second and Coedpoeth could not deal with Aiden's brilliant feet and he calmly side footed the keeper. Dylan's pace and precision got the third and it was Aiden again who shaped to cross but instead rifled the ball into the near side for the fourth and final. Full credit must be given to Coedpoeth for working tirelessly and keeping the score line down. The BPA coaches were delighted by the team play today. Well done! Notable performances by Dylan, Toby, Kyran and Connor "A", but today Man of the Match goes to Aiden  who just keeps on getting better!

27 February 2010
Borras Park Albion V Borras Park Rangers
Result: 1-0 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Aiden x 1

A much anticipated clash saw us pit against our neighbours. The game started at a phenomenal tempo. Albion had the better opportunities in the first half and it was a wonderful strike from Aiden that broke the deadlock. Albion had plenty of opportunity to kill the tie off in the first half but the bar, our finishing and some good fortune for the visitors kept the score line to 1-0. The pendulum then swung Rangers way in the second half but good battling and defending kept the onslaught at bay. The last 10 minutes saw Albion raise their game again but despite having several goal scoring opportunities another goal was not to come. Man of the Match goes to the whole team today for a solid performance and an important 3 points.

20 February  2010
Coedpoeth V Borras Park Albion
Result: 0-2 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Aiden x2

A different formation this week found players operating out of their comfort zone. The first half was scrappy but Borras did produce plenty of chances. The first goal came via the penalty spot after Aiden was brought down in the box. Connor "A" stepped up and almost broke the bar with his strike. The ball then took an eternity to come down and it was the penalty maker Aiden that finished the job. The second came again via Aiden whose footwork was a little too much for Coedpoeth to handle and he finished nicely in the bottom right corner.
The second half saw the Coedpoeth keeper make save after save. Connor "A" hit a "Charltonesque" 30 yarder which once again almost broke the crossbar  but alas a third goal was not to come. Notable performances by Kyran, Toby  and Connor "P" but this weeks Man of the Man goes to Aiden for two great goals and tremendous support play.

13 February 2010
Marchwiel V Borras Park Albion
Result: 1-1 Draw

Scorers:
Tom

The game started with a ferocious tempo. It was end to end with both teams having little time on the ball. The deadlock was broken at about the 20 minute point when BPA won a corner. Connor "A" sent the ball into the box and Tom  hit it on the volley. The keeper got his hand to it but could not prevent the goal. 1-0 BPA. BPA then seemed to be winning the arm wrestle and went in at half time looking the slightly stronger. In the second half BPA had plenty of opportunity to score via Aiden, Toby and Harri  but all went wide. The last 10 minutes saw Marchwiel apply pressure and this was rewarded by fine goal struck across the keeper. Marchwiel were now back in the game and in the dying stages had two good chance thwarted by good saves by Kieran and last ditch tackles by both Tom and Kyran . Man of the Match today went to two players who for most of the match dominated BPA's defence - Kyran  & Tom.

06 February 2010
Borras Park Albion V Maelor Youth
Result: 1-0 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Connor "A"

A tough physical encounter today against a much improved Maelor side.  BPA's opener came early when Connor "A"'s free-kick found the back of the net via a Maelor head. The "dubious goals panel" (me, Ivan & Lance) have awarded the goal to Connor as it was going in any way! Maelor defended resolutely for the most of the game and could have equalised but for the crossbar. Borras, not to be out done in crossbar challenge hit the bar a further 3 times themselves but no goals came. Man of the Match goes to Lewis for the second game in succession for some tremendous back play.

23 January 2010
Borras Park Albion V Llangollen (Played at Llan)

Result: 4-1 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Toby  x 2
James  x 1
Ben  x 1

A big thanks to Llan today for agreeing to play and host the fixture.
Very little to split the teams as both sides battled and fought for every ball. Borras finally got the breakthrough just before half time when a ball passed out of defence met Connor "A" in midfield, who in turn passed onto forward Toby who found the back of net. Simple football!. The 2nd goal came after the half time break and was same move again, Connor A to Toby and the net. 2-0 BPA. Our nerves may have settled but not for long. Llangollen were awarded a freekick on the edge of the box and confusion between keeper and halfback saw the ball fumble into the net. 2-1 BPA and some twitching coaches. Fortunately James kept his nerve and scored a wonderful solo effort, beating 2 defenders on his right foot then beating the keeper with his left. 3-1 BPA. Llan kept battling and it was only a bone crunching tackle from Harri on the formidable Llan left wing that kept the score as it was. The final and last goal came in the last minutes as BPA finally started to apply pressure. Ben beat the keeper via a crowded box and finally the BPA coaches sighed with relief. Full credit to Llan who battled us all the way. Man of the Match was close today between James and Lewis, but todays vote goes to Lewis who was at his very best!

12 December 2009
FC Marford & Gresford V BPA

Win for BPA 1-4

Scorers:
Toby  x 2
Connor "A" x 1
Kyran  x 1

Being starved of football of late, BPA were delighted to play this fixture. The pitch was very heavy and the players found it hard going.  Both teams battled hard with little flowing football to talk about. The breakthrough goal came from a set piece. Tom lofted a free-kick between the defensive line and the keeper for Connor "A" to run onto and loft into the net. 0-1 BPA. Aiden Smith then played a similar free-kick but it was Toby who obliged with the goal. 0-2 BPA.  M&G got one back when the whole of the Borras back line were caught napping. The M&G striker was put into acres of space and finished with a wonderful strike to make it 1-2. Just when M&G thought they were back in the game Aiden beat the defender then fired his shot across the keeper who could only parry into the path of Toby, who finished with ease. The final goal saw Kyran  carve up the midfield and defence to finish a wonderful solo effort. 1-4 BPA. Man of the Match could have gone to either Kyran or Toby today, but for relentless effort and one extra goal, this weeks MOTM is Toby .

21 November 2009
BPA V Ruthin U13s Tesco Cup

Result: 0-2 Win to Ruthin

As in all previous encounters between Borras and Ruthin this game was just as tight. Borras started the first half the slightly stronger team but failed to score in a period that saw corner after corner cleared. Ruthin came strong in the last 10 minutes of this period were rewarded with a goal on the stroke of half time. 1-0 Ruthin. The second half started similar to the first with Borras playing some good football and were unfortunate to have one goal mouth effort cleared off the line by some good defensive positioning. Ruthin soon found their form and finished the second half stronger with another goal and a deserved win. Good luck in the rest of the cup Ruthin. No disappointment today as we played excellent football. Notable performances today from James, Connor A, Kyran and Keiran who was tremendous in goal today. Man of the Match today goes to Tom who although under the weather, gave us a sterling performance.

31 October 2009
Marchwiel V BPA U14s League Cup

Result: 3-0 Win to Marchwiel

Although both teams were missing key players, today's match was end to end. Borras had the first opportunity when Toby was through on goal but Marchwiel were saved by the post. Borras then failed to convert 2 free kicks on the edge of the box. Finally, the breakthrough goal came minutes before half time when Marchweil's rightback scored a wonderful lofted goal. The second half started as evenly as the first half, with Kyran hitting the post in one attack and getting one cleared off the line in another. Borras started to roll on the subs and this loss of shape was capitalized on and Marchwiel finished off strong with 2 well taken goals in the latter stages. Over all we were very pleased with our performance and hopefully can build on this when we meet Marchwiel in the league. Man of the Match goes to Lewis who was superb!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

17 October 2009
Rhosddu V BPA  U13s Tesco Cup

Result: 3-8 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Toby x 1
Connor A x 1
Harri  x 1
Kyran  x 1
Jake  x 1
Aiden  x 3

The score line today flattered Borras as at no moment in the game did the Borras coaches feel safe. Aiden scored the opener after a 20 yard pass from right wing Lewis was rifled into the top of the net. The second was one the coaches were very proud of. Goalkeeper Kieran rolled the ball out midfielder Connor "A" who then hit a lovely pass to striker Toby who finished superbly. 0-2 BPA. Rhosddu pulled on back to make it 1-2. Aiden got his second via a goal mouth scramble to make it 1-3. James flicked the ball onto Connor "A" who hit a 30 yarder for the fourth. Rhosddu pulled another one back 2-4. Kyran scored a header from the corner for the fifth and Aiden got his hat trick when the keeper fumbled his shot. Rhosddu then pulled another one back 3-6. Harri got the seventh via Jake's pass. The eighth and final came when Jake stretched his legs out of defence and ran the length of the pitch to finished off a wonderful run. In the middle of the this goal fest both keepers made some superb saves in what was a truly "open" game. Borras's keeper Keiran  must also get a mention as he pushed a wonderfully struck shot onto the crossbar in the dieing seconds. Man of the Match goes to the magician - Aiden !

--------------------------------------------------------------------

10 October 2009
Maelor Youth V BPA  U13s

Result: 0-5 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Toby  x 1
Connor "A" x 3
George  x 1

With both teams weakened by injury and illness the pre-match form book went out of the window. The game started at lightening tempo with both sides having the opportunity to score in the first minute.
Borras were first to make the breakthrough when Toby was put into space by Lewis and finished with a tremendous strike. The second came when Connor "A" took the ball across several defenders and finished with a cracker on his left. Aiden Smith was posing a real problem to the Maelor defenders and eventually was awarded a penalty after having his shirt pulled in the box. Connor "A" scored from the spot.
Borras made the all subs at half time. The second half saw Borras lose their composure and shape a little and Maelor lifted. Maelor battled hard and put Borras under some real pressure however Aiden was still posing a real problem to Maelor's defence and BPA were awarded a second penalty after Aiden was tripped for a second time in the box. Connor "A" scored his third and BPA's fourth from the spot. The final goal must go down for goal of the month, when George hit Connor "A"'s corner on the volley and into the back of the net. Super goal! There were several notable performances especially from Adien, Lewis, Kyran & Toby but today's Man of the Match goes to captain Connor Arrowsmith.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

03 October 2009
BPA V Llay U13s

Result: 4-0 Win to BPA

Scorers:
Toby  x 2
Jake  x 1
George  x 1

BPA started strong and were camped in the Llay half for the first 10 minutes. Llay soaked up this pressure and it looked like they may hang on to half time with a clean sheet as their outstanding keeper made save after save. The breakthrough goal came when Jake sent an intelligent ball into the box which Toby struck at goal. Llay's keeper made a fantastic first save but Toby was quick to put the rebound in. 1-0 BPA. The second half team talk was simple - more of the same!
BPA were working as a team now and playing for each other. The next two goals saw Aiden loft a gentle pass over to Jake who simply smashed the ball home and then Kyran did exactly the same for Toby's second. 3-0 up and 30 minutes to go saw Borras ring the changes. With five sub's now on, Connor "A" worked the ball to the byline and then crossed unselfishly for sub George to finish. 4-0 BPA.  Llay were plucky and hard working for the full 70 minutes. Man of the Match this week goes to the whole team for a combined effort. Well done

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

26th September 2009

Result: 4-2 Loss to BPA

Scorers:
Connor  x 1
Tom  x 1

It is fair to say that we were poor today. We never quite gelled nor got into our stride. Rangers must take credit for this as they stopped us from playing. We scored first via the penalty spot when Toby was brought down. Connor "P" scored from the spot. A period of aerial ping pong then ensued. Rangers put for 4 goals past us in this frustrating period. Albion scored a consolation goal in the last minutes of the game when Connor "A"s corner kick was hit on the half volley by Tom. Albion had plenty of chances throughout the game but we will put this one down to experience. Man of the Match goes to Kyran who worked tirelessly all match.

19th September 2009

BPA V FC Marford & Gresford

Result: 3-0 Win for BPA

Scorers:
Toby  x 2
Aiden  x 1

M & G packed the defence today and were very difficult to break down. The breakthrough goal came just before half time when a corner crossed in by Connor "A" found the back of the net via Toby's knee. Two very similar but equally wonderful strikes from Toby and Aiden cemented the win, to finish the game 3-0 to BPA. Man of the Match was a tough decision between two great performances by Tom  in defence and Toby up front. By a whisker Toby wins MOTM today. Well done.

12th September 2009

Llangollen v BPA

Result: 2 - 7 Win for BPA

Scorers:
Connor C  x 1
Toby  x 1
Connor A x 1
Aiden  x 2
Lewis  x 2

BPA started off strong and got the opener after several near misses when Toby finished off a through ball. Lewis scored the second via a corner. Llan then got one back. BPA then went 1-3 up when Aiden found the back on the net. BPA thought the onslaught was about to start but a gutsy Llan had other ideas and clawed one back.  just before half time.

The team talk was simple...relax and stop snatching in front of goal. BPA had hit the woodwork no less than 4 times in the first half alone.

The second half produced a much more cohesive performance. A header from Tom was kept out by the keeper but not held and Connor "C" (on his debut) finished. Lewis then got the fifth and his second with a lovely header and the sixth came from a powerful shot from Connor "A". The seventh and final goal was from an Aiden trademark jinky run that he finished superbly. MOTM goes to Lewis for an outstanding performance on the right wing and as right back.

The whole team performed excellent today especially in the second half.

Cefn United V BPA Friendly

Many thanks to Gary and Cefn for inviting us and hosting this friendly.

With 5 of our team away on holiday it was always going to be a toughy! Control of the game switched from side to side with Cefn winning the middle period. As in most BPA games, the fitness and determination saw them take control of the latter stages of the game and finish off with a tremendous performance.

A special thanks to the guys who played at short notice and put in sterling performances and gave us the opportunity to play the fixture.

This game was quite a physical encounter and this experience will help both teams when playing in the "tougher" matches.

Sunday 9th August 2009

Ruthin V BPA Friendly

Many thanks to Ruthin for inviting us and hosting our first friendly of the season. Both teams took the opportunity to try out all squad players. The games themselves were well refereed and as expected competitively challenged.

The friendly was evenly contested with both teams taking it in turns to take the advantage.

A mention to Toby who was outstanding on his debut for BPA and fitted in as if he had played with Borras for many years.

Also a special thanks to Danny who also was fantastic and gave a performance fitting of his tremendous ability.

Well done all players BPA and Ruthin, as it was great game to watch and take part in..... thanks!

Roll on 12th September 2009!

17th May 2009 - League Cup Final - Wrexham Racecourse

Congratulations to Ruthin for their win over us at the Racecourse!

It was probably the most exciting game that we have been fortunate enough to be involved in during our time in 11 a side football.

Full credit must be given to both teams who gave it their all on the day. A breathtaking match that kept everyone out of their seats.

It was a wonderful experience for both players and coaches, one not to be taken too lightly. We sat in the same changing rooms, walked down the same tunnel and played on the same pitch as legends like Ian Rush, Mark Hughes & Ryan Giggs.

Yes, we are little down hearted at narrowly missing out twice now at the silverware, but we will take this on the chin and come back stronger next year!

Well done all Borras players, we the coaches are so very proud of you!

With nothing to win or lose in the game the coaches decided to give all players an even chance and to tinker with squad positions.
The game was very even with both teams hitting the woodwork before the breakthrough goal came through. Jimmy finished off some excellent work on the right with a super cross into the box which Kyran  calmly put away. 0-1 BPA. At halftime BPA made all their subs hoping that nobody would be injured in the following 30 minutes.  As expected with block substitution BPA lost their shape a little and Cefn seized on this period to get the equalizer 1-1. BPA were then hit by another blow when right back Rhys fell awkwardly on his shoulder and had to come off. BPA were now down to 10 men. A couple of positional changes seemed to plug the holes and BPA's reward was an outstanding individual effort from James who beat 3 defenders and the keeper to bag the win 1-2. Man of the Match goes to Connor "A" who gained momentum throughout the game and finally gave BPA the performance we know he has the ability to produce!

02 May 2009

After the game yesterday I have had some lovely emails from both coaches and parents from Ruthin. I've attached one so that all can see the warmth between the teams.

"Alan

Just to note, I was the father who spoke to you today and asked if
I could take photos today. I did and I am sure we will get a few on the website very soon.

Can I say that it was an excellent game today; your comments on your website about Ruthin being worthy champions was great to see... very magnanimous of you thanks..... i.e. in true spirit of game.

Your team played REALLY well today and it was a very close match. Credit to you as coaching staff.

It should be a great cup final in a few weeks time and we look forward to playing you again in the same positive spirit as all showed today.

There are a few teams in this league like yours and ours that are truly close.... and great to see that those teams have the right and proper spirit; competitive but also decency.... After all ... they are all only kids... and in all seriousness we as adults have a responsibility to show them the appropriate example and leadership.

Again I look forward to seeing you again at the Racecourse... and good luck with your remaining games in the league.

Cheers

Huw"

Borras Park Albion v Ruthin Town
Result: Win for Ruthin 0-2

Congratulations to Ruthin on winning the league in fine style. Worthy Champions!

The game today was end to end with Ruthin gaining the upper hand in the last 10 minutes of the first half and going into the break 0-2 up.
In the second half Borras worked their socks off but missed two super opportunities to at least draw the game. Man of the Match goes to Jimmy, whose work rate today was fantastic!

BPA finish runners up in the league and the medals will be given out at presentation night.
We coaches are very proud of all our boys and we should focus on the positives and remember that it has taken until May for us to lose our first league game!

Well Done!

25th April 2009
Borras Park Albion V Johnstown
Result: Win for BPA 2-0

Scorers:
Tom
Connor "A"

The first half was a pretty even affair with both sides having opportunities. BPA's keeper Kieran made an excellent save then both Ben and Aiden  hit the posts with two fine efforts. 0-0 at half time. The opener for Borras came after a period of good passing, James  slid the ball through for Tom who neatly put it away. 1-0 BPA. The second goal came when Connor "A" drilled a left footed strike with so much power straight at the keeper, that the ball seemed to go through him. 2-0 BPA. Johnstown are a difficult side to break down and this has shown in their results this season. Man of the Match goes to James whose second half performance lifted our play.

Marford & Gresford Rangers V Borras Park Albion
Result: Win for BPA 5-0

Scorers:
Jimmy  x 2
Aiden  x 1
Kyle  x 1
Connor "P" x 1

A very good performance tonight by every player. The breakthrough goal came when Aiden passed the ball across the goal and Jimmy nipped in ahead of the keeper. Aiden then scored the second with a wonderful looping shot that finished high in the back of the net. The third came when Jimmy backed his trademark pace and beat the line of defence and calmly slotted the ball home. The fourth came when Connor "P" scored from penalty spot after Nathan was fouled in the area. The fifth and final came when Kyran  put the ball through for Kyle who lobbed the M&G keeper. The highlight of the game came when BPA keeper Kieran cleared badly from the right touchline straight to an M&G player and then made a Herculean effort to get back into goal to save the long range shot that everyone thought was in. Pure Panto!  Man of the Match goes to keeper Kieran who kept a clean sheet and our noses above water.

Borras Park Albion V Brickfield
Result: Win for BPA 3-0

Scorers:
Tom  x 2
Kyle x 1

Borras got off to a good start and scored early when Tom finished with the outside of his boot, after a nice passing move involving both Kyran and Connor "A".  Brickfield then came into the game and competed on an even keel until well into the second half.  Borras's nerves were then settled when Kyran put the ball through to Kyle  who neatly lobbed the keeper to make it 2-0.  The third and final came from a similar goal but this time it was Nathan providing the pass and Tom the finish.  There were notable performances by Kyle and Kyran  but this weeks Man of the Match goes to Tom.

NEWFA Semi final 2 legs played on 1st & 15th April 2009

Leg 1 Win for Marchwiel 4-2   Scorers for BPA: Kyran & Jimmy
Leg 2 Win for Marchwiel 1-2   Scorer for BPA: James

BPA were 2-0 down before you could blink or say Big Who?. Marchwiel controlled the show up to about 20 minutes but then Borras regained some composure and started to compete only to let in a soft goal before just before the break. 3-0 Marchwiel. After half time BPA came out and played in the manner they are known for, coming out on top in the second half by 2 goals to 1, with a contender for goal of the season by Kyran and a trademark Jimmy dart. Man of the Match goes to Kyran who ran his heart out and gave the performance of a lifetime.

The second leg was a different affair. BPA were the stronger team in the first half and went into the half time break 1-0 up. They competed for every ball and gave a performance fitting of their league position. The goal came via a corner which James slotted home. The physical presence of the Marchwiel boys started to show in second half and Marchwiel got 2 quick goals to take the lead 1-2. A goal mouth scramble in the dieing seconds could have given BPA a deserved draw but this was not be. Man of the Match goes to Danny for a solid display at the back.

Good luck to both Ruthin & Marchwiel as these two teams make will make a great final!

Brickfield V BPA
Result: 0-5 Win for BPA

Scorers:
Adien x 2
Tom x 1
Kyran x 1
James x 1

The opener came when Tom passed the ball onto Aiden who calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner of the net. The second came again when Tom beat the keeper to the ball and turned it back inside to Aiden again who this time floated the ball into the top right hand corner of the net. The third came when Connor "P" won the ball in midfield and knocked the ball straight through the centre to Tom who hit it powerfully into the centre of the net. The fourth came from Kyran who calmly won the ball and then beat one defender and then smashed the ball into the net. The fifth and final came from a trademark Aiden run, who then passed the ball onto Kyran, who moved the ball onto James who in turn passed it neatly into the bottom left hand corner of the net. Brickfield were brave opposition and battled well but found Borras a little too strong on the day. Notable performances from Connor "A" and Kyran  who were tremendous in the midfield and from keeper Kieran  who pulled off a finger tip save to push a Brickfield thunderbolt onto the crossbar.  Man of the Match goes to Aiden for an all round display of magic!

21st March 2009

Borras Park Rangers V Borras Park Albion
Result: 1-1 Draw

Scorer:
Connor "A"

A fair result today. Albion took a first half lead when a corner swung in from Connor "A" found its ways into the back of the net. The game then ebbed and flowed with both sides controlling periods of the game. Ranger's equaliser came when Albion failed to clear their box and the goal mouth scramble that ensued. Man of the Match goes to Dannyfor his excellent battling and work rate at the back.

Borras Park Albion V Llangollen
Result: Win for BPA 3-0

Scorers:
Aiden
Jimmy
Connor P

Evening Leader Football Crazy Pictures

Windy conditions made it difficult for both teams today. Borras got the opener when a long throw from James  was received by Aiden and he struck it beautifully into the back of the net.1-0 BPA. Llan battled well and it is fair to say out passed BPA for the next quarter. Just before half time, Connor A put a ball through for Jimmy who by the slimmest of margins beat the Llan keeper to make it 2-0 for BPA. The subs started to roll on a half time and both teams now were keeping the ball on the ground and playing better football. In the last quarter Borras were gifted a penalty when an unfortunate Llan defender played the ball against his own hand and Connor P dutifully despatched into the back of the next. 3-0 and the win for BPA. Man of the Match goes to Connor P for a solid performance at the back.

21st February 2009

BPA V Bala
Result: Win for BPA 2-1

Scorers:
Jimmy
Alex

Today saw two evenly balanced teams match each other in every department. Borras scored the first goal when Nathan  headed a corner ball to the far post and Jimmy  passed it into the net. 1-0 BPA. Borras then conceded a sloppy goal which lifted Bala's play. 1-1. The game then was end to end with both keepers pulling off save after save. With seconds left on the clock Borras were awarded a throw-in close to the box. James threw a long ball into the box and the ball seemed to mystically continue its journey through to Alex  who was on the far side. Alex struck at goal and time seemed to stand still as the ball bobbled and bounced cruelly for Bala. You could hear the cheers in Cardiff. 2-1 and the win for Borras. A draw would have been a fairer result but in this ever so competitive league we will take every bit of fortune we can. Man of the Match goes to keeper Kieran  who gave a brilliant performance in goal.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Hawarden Rangers V Borras Park Albion  1/4 Finals of NEWFA Cup
Result: Win for BPA 2-0

Scorers:
Aiden
James

This game was 100 miles an hour so the finer points are a bit sketchy :-)
Three weeks of inactivity showed as it took Borras 10 minutes to get into the pace of the game. Hawarden were strong from the start. Borras finally started to play and the opportunities started to follow. The opener came when Jimmy put the ball across the face of the goal and Aiden latched onto to it and finished superbly across the keeper to the far post. 1-0 BPA. Several opportunities followed with Borras hitting the post no less than 3 times before James managed to get onto a rebound and neatly side foot it into the net for BPA's second. 2-0 BPA. Hawarden's composure was slipping and they soon found themselves with 10 men as the ref was forced to take action. It was a well ground out result for Borras who remained focused until the final whistle. Man of the Match goes to James for an outstanding performance throughout  and especially in the latter stages of the game.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Borras Park Albion V Llay 1/4 Finals of League Cup
Result: Win for BPA 5-1

Scorers:
Connor "A" x 2
Jimmy  x 2
James x 1

An exciting encounter which seemed to ebb and flow. Borras took the lead when a cross from Aiden was neatly put away by Connor "A". The rest of the first half saw two outstanding keepers earn their crust. The second half saw Borras squeeze a little and put Jimmy on the score sheet twice when he finished superbly from one of his trademark runs and then scored via a simple tap in from an Aiden rebounded shot. Borras were now 3-0 up and started to roll on the subs and Llay got one back when Borras were down to 10 men after Aiden had to leave the pitch due to an injury. 3-1 BPA. Once Borras were back up to 11 men they took control again when Llay's outstanding keeper could not keep out a Connor "A" strike from the edge of the box. The fifth and final goal came via a niftily crafted shot from Alex which beat the keeper but run along the line and needed the final push from James. 5-1 BPA. Llay were good opposition and the score line could have been much closer had it not been for an on form Borras keeper Kieran. Man of the Match goes to Connor "A" for all round good play!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

17th January 2008

Borras Park Albion V Llay U13's
Result: 3-0 Win for BPA

Great friendly today that saw two sides matching each other's play for most of the game. 2 goals from Aiden and 1 from Jimmy in the latter quarter gave Borras the win. Man of the Match goes to Kyran who played in 3 positions and was outstanding!

---------------------------------------------------------------------

13th December 2008

Penycae V Borras Park Albion - 2 Round of the League Cup.
Result: 1-2 Win for BPA

Today saw two evenly matched teams battle for the last undecided spot in the League Cup. Borras started confidently and played good football in the first quarter. Penycae got the opener when Borras's defenders were drawn out of position and the pass across the pitch put the Penycae right wing in acres of space. He still had a lot to do, but he finished the move off well. 1-0 Penycae.  Borras's response was out of the top draw. Aiden received the ball from the kickoff and dribbled the whole length of the pitch. He then laid the ball off to Tom who smashed it into the net.1-1. Aiden was now in Ronaldo mode and scored a scorcher from the left to settle Borras's nerves. 1-2 BPA. Just before the second half Penycae had an excellent opportunity to draw level but on form keeper, Kieran kept it out.
Borras started to roll on the subs in the second half and lost their
shape a little, but managed hold out Penycae until the final whistle.
A great exciting game of football that was a pleasure to watch. Man of the Match goes to keeper Kieran whose excellent first half save kept Borras on track.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

06 December 2008
Borras Park Albion v Borras Park Rangers
Result: 3-0 Win for BPA

Scorers:
Jimmy x 3

Albion started strong but Rangers defended well, managing to keep a clean sheet for most of the first half. The break through goal came when James  won the ball in midfield and passed it on to Jimmy who had drifted to the left. Jimmy took the ball to the by-line and then cut back onto his right foot to finish superbly for the first goal. 1-0 Albion. Rangers had a good opportunity but Albion's keeper Kieran was alert and came well out of his box to clear the danger. Rangers started the second half stronger and were now competing for every ball, but it was Albion who scored next when a piece of clever skill by Aiden put the ball through for Jimmy to run onto. The Ranger's keeper came out to clear but Jimmy won the footrace and calmly passed the ball into the net. 2-0 Albion. Halfway through the second half Albion were back in control and Jimmy got his hat-trick when he locked on to a clearance by Rhys and used his trademark pace to beat the defence and keeper. Rangers had several chances to score but were kept out by some good goal keeping by Kieran. This result takes BPA into the new year unbeaten in the league. Man of the Match could have gone to the whole team but was won by Aiden for his best performance of the season.

15th November 2008

BPA v Bala in NEW Cup
Result: 5-4 (after extra time) Win for BPA

Scorers:
Jimmy x 4
James x 1

This must have been the most exciting game of the season.
Bala were in control of the game from the first whistle and were outplaying BPA. But BPA scored the first goal  when a rebounded shot fell nicely to James who calmly slotted it home 1-0 BPA. The second came from a piece of individual skill from James who passed the ball to Connor "A" who forwarded it to Jimmy who smashed it into the back of the net. BPA's play had lifted. Borras went into the break 2-0 up but Bala had played the better football.
Within seconds of the second half,  Bala were gifted their opener by some slack defending. 2-1 BPA. Borras were playing more positive now and got the third when Jimmyfinished superbly from Kyle's pass. 3-1 BPA.  Borras seemed to be matching Bala play for play now until the ref said 3 minutes to go. BPA seemed to fold like a pack of cards and conceded 2 quick goals to take the game into extra time. Borras were wobbling now and Bala took a well deserved lead. 3-4 Bala. At this stage it was fair to say that the BPA coaches nerves were shot and it looked as if Borras were about to lose their first 11 aside match, however the players had other ideas. With six minutes left on the clock, Kieran pulled of a great double save and Man of the Match Jimmy came up with two late goals to save Borras's bacon and sink the valiant Bala. A great rollercoaster ride of a game!!

08th November 2008

Llangollen V Borras Park Albion
Result Win for BPA 1-4

Scorers:
Connor
Alex
Tom
Kyran

Borras were thrown by the 3/4 size pitch and goals in the first half and struggled to deal with the lack of space. Llangollen took the lead with a beautifully struck goal from right hand side and went into the break with a deserved 1-0 lead. Borras had plenty of chances themselves but an on form Llan keeper kept the score to nil. Borras made some tactical changes and sent the team back on with a new game plan that paid dividends within minutes. A pass down the left hand flank from Aiden to Connor A produced a well taken goal for BPA. Almost instantly from the restart Borras won a corner and started to put real pressure on Llangollen. The keeper managed to keep out Jimmy's shot but not the rebound which Alex scored to make 1-2 to BPA. Borras were now in control and the third came once again when Jimmy's shot was parried into the path of Tom who side footed the ball into the net. The fourth came from Kyran's lone run beating two or three defenders to take the final goal. Man of the Match goes to Rhys Edwards who put in a solid performance at the back.

Borras Park Albion v Marford & Gresford Rangers
Result: Win for BPA 5-0

Scorers
Kyran x 1
James x 1
Connor A x 1
Aiden x 2

The opener for Borras came when new boy Kyran retrieved a lost cause in the left corner and put the ball in the back of the net with the aid of a slight deflection. This lifted Borras's play. James got hold of a loose ball and neatly drilled it into the bottom right corner for the second. The third came from a thirty yard screamer from Connor A. Aiden bagged the fourth and fifth thanks to some of Borras's best passing this season. Marford & Gresford battled hard but found it difficult with all three of their former WXM Schoolboys missing. Man of the Match goes to Kyran for his work rate and all round control.

18th October 2008

Borras Park Albion v Johnstown
Result: Win for BPA 3-2

Scorers
Jimmy x 2
Alex  x 1

Borras started the stronger but a resolute Johnstown team weathered the storm and hit Borras on the break to take a 1-0 lead. It was superb run by Jimmy who used both speed and skill to beat two defenders and  put the ball in the back of the net for the equaliser 1-1. Johnstown seemed to be dealing with whatever Borras threw at them until a poor kick from the keeper gave Jimmy the opportunity to give Borras the lead 2-1. The third came via a bouncing pass from Jimmy again which bounced nicely for Alex's volley into the back of the net, 3-1. Borras made the customary changes with all four subs in the last quarter and Johnstown snatched a well deserved second in the final minute. Both teams played and worked hard. Man of the match goes to Jimmy who had a hand in all goals and played his best game yet.

Borras Park Albion V Brickfield 1st Round of Cup
Result: 5-0 Win for BPA

Scorers:
Connor P x 1
Kyle x 1
Jimmy x 2
Aiden x 1

Windy conditions made for a fragmented game. The opener came from a foul on Aiden inside the box which Connor P coolly converted. Jimmy got the second with a stunning strike which finished high in the back of the net. Aiden managed to sneak in the third just before the subs started to roll. Five subs later Borras were still in control and Tom used the "through ball" to put Jimmy away for a side footed fourth. Kyle ventured out of his left back position and scored the fifth and final goal and earned his well deserved man of the match award. The score line flattered Borras as Brickfield battled hard and kept their heads up.

20th September 2008
Ruthin Town V Borras Park Albion
Result: 2-3 Win for BPA

Scorers:
Jimmy x 1
Connor A x 2

Ruthin were under the cosh for the first 10 minutes with Borras camped in Ruthin's half but unable to score. Ruthin then hit Borras with a counter attack and finished superbly to make it 1-0 to the home team. Borras were stunned but not out and replied with a thunderbolt contender for goal of the season from 30 yards out by Connor A 1-1. Jimmy then added another with a lofted shot that glided over the keeper to make it 2-1 to Borras. Ruthin are a tough physical team who seemed to win every 50/50 ball and soon got a well deserved equaliser 2-2. The winner came from Aiden's dazzling feet that created a freekick on the edge of the box and Connor A dutily put in the back of the net 3-2. Both teams battled and battled to the final whistle and Borras finished with the win. Ben was man of the match for Borras for his non stop work rate!.

Evening Leader Cuttings from Football Crazy

13th September 2008 - BPA v Cefn
Result: Draw 3-3

Borras Scorers were:
Ben
James
Jimmy

Borras took the lead with a ball won by Kyle whose rebounded shot was put away cooly by Ben.
The game was pretty evenly played and just before half time Cefn broke through and scored an equaliser.
In the second half Borras dominated the first 20 minutes with a thunderbolt shot from James from outside the box to make it 2-1, then Jimmy used his pace to round the defenders and make it 3-1. It looked like Borras were in control and that the match was theirs, however Cefn do not know how to lose and they never gave up. They battled and battled and finally got their break through to make it 3-2 with five minutes left. Borras wobbled for first time in the match and Cefn siezed on this opportunity to score another late goal and draw the match. Both teams played the game in the correct spirit in what was a rollercoaster ride of a game.

Hi Guys,

Another footballing year is now at its end. The last training session will be Thursday June 21th 2007.
There will be a break for summer and we will resume on Thursday 9th August 2007 at Dean Road 6:30 -7:30.

It has been a remarkable 12 months. We finished last year on a high by winning the St Joseph’s tournament. This year we have already bettered that by not only winning, but getting runners up spot in the TetraPak tournament and still managing to field four teams.

We would like to thank the boys for their hard work and effort over the season. The improvement in the boys is clear to see and being recognised at higher levels.

The parents are the backbone to any successful club. Thank you guys for your tremendous support!
I say it each year,  we have the best parents in the league.

Have nice break, and we will see you all refreshed in August

Many Thanks From

Lance, Ivan, Steve and Al

PHOTOS

I would like ALL parents to send me ANY photographs taken on Presentation Night.
When I say all, I mean even the ones taken with family etc. The more I have the better.
I will be adding Presentation Night to the photo section of the website

Either send them full size or resize them with this tool:

Microsoft Image Resizer

Once you have installed Resizer
goto the the folder with your pictures in ie My Pictures
either individually select the photos or  Edit and Select All
then right click and a new menu will pop up, select Resize Pictures.
choose Large and OK
this will create a copy of the original in the same folder called **** (Large).jpg

This tool keeps the original quality very very well but reduces the size of the photo by 90%.

Then email them to me

thanks

Please contact me as soon as possible if you want to play and have not submitted your form. Can we please have maximum participation at training this Thursday 08th June as we will be practising 5-a-side rules. If you have been selected in the Ellesmere tournament and cannot make this Thursdays training please let me know in advance.

Anyone still wanting tickets for the Cabaret Night please let me know prior to this Thursday night training.

This is the new site of Borras Park Albion Under 9's. This site is in its infancy and hopefully will grow as we learn the art of web authoring.

This site is not being posted on any search engines so will remain pretty private, so please let me know if you have concerns about photographs and I will remove them.

Please note that the Presentation Night is on Thursday 25th May 2006 at 6:15pm in the William Aston Hall at NEWI.

Anyone one wishing to collect tickets for the Cabaret Night let me know in advance so that I can arrange for them to be available on the Presentation Night. So far there are already 10 of us going.

Yours in Sport
